"In case they get no such guarantees, northern Kosovo Serbs will stage a peaceful protest," Zubin Potok Mayor Slavisa Ristic told reporters after meeting with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic.

According to Ristic, Serbs cannot accept the border between southern Serbia and Kosovo.

"In case we get guarantees that we will not have to pay customs tax to the quasi-state of Kosovo and that we will not be forced to change our citizenship and personal documents, we will help our country on the crossings and we will cause no problems," Ristic said and added that northern Kosovo Serbs will not cause any problems and that they would only use their right to go on with peaceful protests.

The meeting in the Serbian presidency building was attended by the mayors of Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan and Leposavic, Krstimir Pantic, Dragisa Milovic and Dragisa Vasic, as well as the head of the Belgrade team in the technical dialogue with Pristina Dejan Pavicevic.

In keeping with the agreement which the Serbian government closed with the provincial authorities, integrated management should be set up at administrative crossings in northern Kosovo and Belgrade insists that EULEX should have a control function in this.

The first stage of the implementation of the agreement at crossings of Merdare and Jarinje will begin on December 3, and the agreements will be implemented on crossings of Brnjak and Bela Zemlja soon thereon.

Kosovo Serbs to be delivered technical protocol

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic pledged Wednesday to deliver to the heads of the Serb municipalities in northern Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) by December 4 a technical protocol for the implementation of the agreements signed between the Serbian government and the interim administration in Pristina.

Nikolic and Dacic made the pledge at a meeting with the presidents of the four Serb municipalities in KiM - Krstimir Pantic, Slavisa Ristic, Dragisa Milovic and Dragisa Vasic.

After studying the technical document, the municipality chairs will speak to the citizens in the north of the province about it publicly, the Serbian president's cabinet said in a release.
