Russian MFA: Kosovo remains quasi-state
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Kosovo remained a quasi-state even after the decision of the International Steering Group to end its work.

Since the ISG does not have internationally recognized status, we hold that regardless of the decision it has made, Kosovo remains, as it has been, a quasi-state which does not have international legal subjectivity, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
A longterm solution for the Kosovo issue is possible only through negotiations of the interested parties in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244, it is added in the release published on the ministry's website.
The Russian MFA further recalls that the so-called ISG was formed by countries which have recognized the self-proclaimed "Republic of Kosovo" to help in the realization of the Ahtisaari plan - formulated by the former president of Finland for the resolution of the Kosovo issue without the consent of the UN Security Council.
