Kosovo Compromise director speaks to Al-Jazeera: “Kfor violence would be useless”

Even if the NATO-led Kfor troops remove the Kosovo Serb barricades by force, this will prove to be useless as Serbs will continue to seek and find new modalities to prevent Jarinje and Brnjak from becoming "state border crossings" between Serbia and Kosovo, Kosovo Compromise Director Aleksandar Mitic told the central Al-Jazeera news show "Newshour".

Speaking live from Belgrade, Mitic said both the Kosovo Serbs and NATO troops will remain firmly on their positions on the issue of barricades.

"The Kosovo Serbs will not back down and they will go as far as they can in their resistance. I hope that Kfor will not use violence, as it promised, and the Kosovo Serbs do not have the means to confront the use of violence by NATO", he said.

"However, even if Kfor decides to remove the barricades through either political or violent means, the Kosovo Serbs will continue to seek and find new modalities, new ways to prevent the crossings from becoming  ‘state border crossings' between Serbia and Kosovo", the Kosovo Compromise director said.
