EU: Eulex faces challenging international political environment
The EU mission Eulex is facing challenges in the field and in the international arena, which is causing delays in its deployment in Kosovo, the Slovenian EU presidency said on Friday.

"We are facing a challenging political environment at the international level, as well as challenges in the field", a high-ranking Slovenian official said.
"This is slowing down the deployment of the mission, but we are not planning to change its objectives and its mandate", he added.
The Slovenian diplomat said Eulex would continue deploying "in accordance with the political and security realities".
"The EU is determined to fully fulfill the Eulex mandate", he said, adding that that "what is being discussed now in the international fora is the question of timing", given that the June 15 deadline will not be fulfilled.
The Slovenian diplomat said the Eulex deployment "does not depend on the EU", alluding to the fact that Moscow is blocking the UN "green light" to Eulex.
Eulex will be discussed on Monday at the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
