The International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL), a major world organization rallying lawyers, adopted at a conference in Tokyo a resolution condeming the unilaterally declared independence of Serbia's province of Kosovo and the decision of some countries to recognize this, describing all these activities as being contrary to the United Nations Charter and the Final Helsinki Act

"The unilateral declaration of the independence of a part of the Serbian state and the recognition of that secession, are contrary to the norms and principles of international law: state sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders", IADL said in the resolution.

IADL is a major world organization rallying lawyers and has a special status in the United Nations.
