Convicted KLA member to serve 13-year jail term in France

France is one of 15 European countries to have signed deals with the tribunal to enforce sentences imposed on convicted individuals.

The Hague court in mid-November convicted Bala of torture, murder and cruel treatment of Serb and Kosovo Albanian civilian prisoners loyal to Belgrade at the KLA-run Lapusnik camp between May and July 1998.

During Bala's trial, the tribunal heard how he had personally maintained and enforced the inhumane conditions in the prison camp.
