Families of kidnapped Serbs demand Del Ponte's testimony

The president of the Association of Families of Kidnapped and Missing Serbs in Kosovo Simo Spasic said on Tuesday that the body would demand from the former chief prosecutor of the Hague war crimes tribunal Carla del Ponte to be the key witness in the lawsuit they intend to file on the fate of their families.

Spasic said that the Association would demand from Del Ponte to say "who the Albanian protected witnesses were," and to elaborate on the information she had given in her book "The Hunt - Me and War Criminals".

He said that responsibility from both KFOR and UNMIK, as well as from the Albanian government, would demanded as well, since there was serious doubt that Serbs had been transported to Albania, where their organs were reportedly taken out and sold.

Due to the claims which Del Ponte put forward in her book, the Association of Families of Kidnapped Serbs in Kosovo has already filed a lawsuit with a local court, and the Fund for Humanitarian Rights (FHP) in Pristina has demanded the launching of a thorough investigation.
