"I am convinced that if necessary, Russia should give all the necessary political and legal assistance," Kosachev said in Belgrade.
The Russian official said that, for Moscow, the issue of Kosovo is not a political issue, but one of the strategic choice in favor of international law.
"For Russia, that is a situation where no bartering is possible and which remains unchanged with every composition of the Duma and the Russian Federation government - it is a subject of general party consensus", Kosachev said.
"No-one in Russia doubts the correctness of such a position on Kosovo", said the high official of Vladimir Putin's United Russia.
