Given that ethnic Albanians - unanimously in favor - make up more than 25 percent of the population, the poll shows clear disapproval for the move among ethnic Macedonians.
The majority of Macedonian citizens also consider that Skopje should first resolve the issue of border demarcation with Kosovo (Serbia) before taking a decision on recognizing Kosovo.
Marking of the border is a priority for 74 percent of the Macedonians, while 85 of Albanians said that recognition of Kosovo is more important.
