"On the subject of Kosovo, Montenegro should not just act on the basis of relations with the Albanians, but also from the point of view of its own state and national interests," Dinosha said.

The DUA leader said that "Montenegro doesn't owe the Albanians in Montenegro anything, rather it owes it to its own European and Euro-Atlantic integration."

"I don't think Montenegro will subordinate its state interests to the Albanians or Serbs in Montenegro or Serbia," he said.

Dinosha said that recognition of Kosovo's independence should not create any instability in Montenegro.

Serbs make up a third of Montenegro, while Montenegrins (around 40 percent of the population) also see themselves as very attached to Kosovo Serb history and the Serb Orthodox Church.
