"The Civic Initiative of the Gorans, as the national organisation of Gorans in Kosovo, will do its best to preserve the Gorans' identity, autochtonous features, uniqueness and unity and will also deal with the daily problems Gorans encounter in Belgrade, Serbia and throughout the world", the party leader Orhan Dragas said.

Dragas recalled that in 1946, attempting forcible assimilation, the then Kosovo Albanian government headed by Fadil Hoxha forcibly assimilated Goran names and family names.

The 20,000- strong Goran community leaves primarily and homogenously in southwestern Kosovo, near the borders with Albania and Macedonia.
