"It was a pleasure to hear that the position of Argentina on Kosovo is rock solid. Argentina strongly supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia and remains committed to the principles of international law", Jeremic said.

He added that Argentina and Serbia were coordinating moves in multilateral institutions regarding the diplomatic activities on Kosovo.

"Argentina will support our initiative to call on the UN General Assembly to ask for an opinion of the International Court of Justice on the legality of the recognition of the unilateral independence of Kosovo, and it will actively seek in Latin America and within the Non-Alligned movement that this initiative receives as many votes as possible", Jeremic said.

Argentina, he said, is "optimistic" that Latin American countries will "resist pressure to recognize Kosovo".

Buenos Aires is currently presiding over Mercosur and it is forming the agenda of this organization in the multilateral institutions, primarily in the UN.

"Argentina will seek a discussion within Mercosur on the process of resolution of the future status of Kosovo ... I hope that Argentina, with the support of Brazil, will achieve a common stand of the great majority of Latin American countries to support Serbia's initiative at the UN General Assembly", Jeremic said.
