"The Kosovo issue should be resolved before the U.N. Security Council because any kind of unilateral decision would be very dangerous," Kerim said at the meeting with Gasparovich in New York.

The Slovak president pointed out that Kosovo was one of the most important problems to be tackled by the Security Council, adding that "the EU will have to look for all possible ways to unify its stand on Kosovo."

"There is no just solution. The ideal thing would be an agreement between the Serbs and Albanians, but that is highly unlikely," Gasparovich warned.

Srdjan Kerim said that the resolution of Kosovo's status would boost stability and lasting peace in the Balkans.
