"Every solution that is outside the United Nations framework, UN Security Council Resolution 1244 in particular, is contrary to the principles of multilateralism and respect of international law", the ambassador said.
He underscored that Brazil will continue to strongly follow its stand on Kosovo.
"Since the beginning of the crisis in the Balkans, Brazil, as a non-permanent member state of the UN Security Council, has insisted on searching for a peaceful solution based on dialogue. We have always urged for presenting every problem before the U.N," De Lima said.
He underscored that his country had backed UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and that it was against the use of force during the 1999 bombing of Serbia, because "the force was used without an approval of the UN Security Council."
Brazil's ambassador said he believed that the way in which the UN Security Council handled the complex issue of Kosovo imposes a conclusion that the UN Security Council should undergo a reform.
Meanwhile, Georgia said considering the issue of recognising Kosovo independence was off its agenda.
Our position has not changed, and we are not considering this issue, Georgian Foreign Minister David Bakradze said.
