The leader of the Christian Democrat Union Jiri Cucek has called for urgent consultations with the leaders of Topolanek's Civic Democratic Party and the Green Party.

The Czech foreign minister Karel Schwarzenberg has announced earlier he was preparing a proposal for Kosovo's recognition on April 2, to coincide with the NATO Bucarest summit.

Cunek warned, however, that for now the Christian Democrates have a "rather negative" view on Kosovo's recognition.

The Greens are ready to vote for Schwarzenberg's proposal, although they too believe it is a "bad solution".

Czech president Vaclav Klaus, as well as the Czech opposition, are fiercely opposed to Kosovo's secession.
