The EU special representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith said the Eulex mission would be carefully deployed in northern, Serb-populated part of Kosovo, depending on the outcome of the May 11 parliamentary elections.

"It is very important for us to see whether in May the parliamentary elections will be won by by EU-friendly or by nationalistic forces", Feith said.
He said the EU was determined to deploy in entire Kosovo, but that it would require additional efforts and time, given the fact that in the north "there are anti-EU sentiments".
The EU representative acts also as an "international civilian representative", a title which he was given by a group of 15 countries, dubbed "coalition of friends of independent Kosovo", with a mandate to implement the Martti Ahtisaari plan which was rejected by the UN Security Council.
