Bolton: Kosovo debate reopened within the US administration
The debate on the future status of Kosovo has been reopened within the US administration with various voices suggesting Kosovo’s independence should not be made unavoidable, former US ambassador to the UN John Bolton said.

"It is difficult to predict the outcome of the debate as there are opposed voices, but it's not longer any more just about the State Department, which in the last 15 years was on an ‘automatic pilot'", Bolton said.
He argued "there are many people in the US administration who do not support the policy of automatic recognition of the independence of Kosovo".
If the US and some major European countries reconsider their position on the recognition of Kosovo's independence, this would strongly impact on the Kosovo Albanians, he added.
The international community should help the two sides find a mutually-acceptable agreement, Bolton said, adding that the UN Security Council does not have the right to break up a sovereign country without its consent.
