Solana : No discussion on dates with Thaqi
The EU High Representative Javier Solana said his discussion with Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaqi on Thursday did not touch on the issue of “dates”, while Thaqi himself said the proclamation of independence – in cooperation with the EU and the US – was a “matter of days”.

After the meeting in Brussels, Solana said the dates would be discussed "at another occasion".
Thaqi argued that Kosovo was "ready to proclaim independence today", but that it would wait "for an end of certain procedures and joint decisions".
He expressed his confidence that the independence of Kosovo would be « massively recognized by the EU countries, the US and the neighbours of Kosovo ».
« We have a confirmation from our partners and we will cooperate very closely to proclaim the independence of Kosovo in cooperation with Washington and Brussels », Thaqi said.
