Belgrade: Firm support to EU countries opposing Kosovo’s independence
Serbia is firmly supporting EU countries opposing Kosovo’s independence and the sending of the ESDP mission without a clear, UNSC mandate, the office of the Serbian Prime Minister told KosovoCompromise.

"Abandoning plans for an unlawful sending of an EU mission to Kosovo would be the strongest incentive for Serbia's European integrations", the office said.
The same source said that a number of EU countries were against the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, as that would then be "a false state, created by means of most severe violation of the UN Charter and the current UN Security Council Resolution 1244."
"Through a decision by the parliament, Serbia has stated that sending a mission to Kosovo would endanger the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the EU must take Serbia's position into account," the source told KosovoCompromise.
There is still no consensus within the EU on legal grounds for sending a mission to Kosovo, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is yet to consent to inviting the EU to replace UNMIK in Kosovo, as envisaged by original plans.
