Israel will not recognize Pristina’s unilateral moves

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said in Tel Aviv on Thursday that Israel has expressed “great understanding” for Serbia’s positions on the future status of Kosovo and that it will not recognize “a unilateral, illegal move of independence” taken by Pristina.

After meeting Israel's highest officials, Jeremic said the UN Security Council should make a stand for a negotiated solution, and "not dictate the outcome with an imposition of a unilateral solution".

He said the road ahead lies in the acceptance of principles of compromise and consensus, as well as of "patient and permanent negotiations".

Jeremic underlined that Serbia was ready to "flexibly" interpret the traditional definition of sovereignty in order to achieve an agreement with the Kosovo Albanians and make sure that "Kosovo obtains the largest possible autonomy that can be imagined, and at the same time to stay within the common sovereign roof with Serbia".
