After meeting with his Belgian counterpart Steven Vanackere in Belgrade, Jeremic also noted that the early phase of talks between Belgrade and Pristina was underway, "in which the issue of status has not been directly raised".

The country's Constitution states in the preamble that Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia.
When asked if Serbia could join the EU without recognizing Kosovo, Jeremic told the journalists that Serbia would "continue cooperating with the European partners so that all of the country's priorities would be fulfilled".
Vanackere pointed out that Belgium strongly supported Serbia in its EU integration process, adding that, regarding Kosovo, "one should work on improving neighborly relations", and creating stability.
