The government has bought advertising time on major television channels including CNN and the BBC to promote its image abroad, with the first spots being broadcast on October 26.

The adverts are 60 seconds each, and are to appear on CNN, CNN Turk, Euronews, Bloomberg and Eurosport.

The launch of the campaign, presided over by Kosovo president Fatmir Sejdiu and prime minister Hashim Thaci, will be followed by print advertisements in publications including The Economist and Newsweek.

The company handling the campaign, reportedly a local partner of consortium BBR Saatchi and Saatchi, was quoted as saying that initially the target would be Europe and the United States, and the reach would be expanded later.
