Giki: UNMIK is to have political role in future
The future role of UNMIK in Kosovo will be a political one, and the mission will represent a link between the Kosovo institutions and international organizations, UNMIK spokesman Russell Giki stated on Tuesday.

He told the Pristina-based media that since the reconfiguration of UNMIK was completed late in June, the mission has adopted a strategy that facilitates the process of securing safety and stability in Kosovo and the Balkans.
The role of UNMIK will also include the fulfillment of certain obligations between Belgrade and Pristina.
The importance of the UN mission in Kosovo will be reflected in Kosovo's integration processes and international mechanisms, Giki said, taking Interpol for example.
