Tannock: Kosovo will not be an EU member, but an isolated enclave
Kosovo will "not become a member of the European Union" due to the opposition of several EU countries and will thus remain an "isolated enclave outside of the EU", British Conservative MEP Charles Tannock told the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Thursday.

"Kosovo will not be able to join the EU because several of its members do not recognize it", Tannock told fellow members of the EP at a session on the Western Balkans.
"Instead, Kosovo will remain an isolated enclave which will be bankrolled for years by EU taxpayers", he said.
Tannock blamed this situation on the unilateral moves taken during the Kosovo status process.
"With a balanced status solution, Kosovo could have become a part of the EU", the British MEP said.
