Thaci: ICJ decision will be honored and assessed

Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Thaci has said in an interview to the Austrian dailies Oberosterreichische Nachrichten and Kleine Zeitung that Pristina will respect the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in connection with Serbia's motion for its opinion on whether the proclamation of the independence of Kosovo was in keeping with international law.

"I do not wish to interfere in the Court decision. We will respect and assess it," Thaci replied when he was asked what Pristina will do if the ICJ announces a negative decision.

Speaking about the recognition of the independence of Kosovo, Taci underscored that many countries are still in the process of recognition, and said that the majority of world countries promised to recognize Kosovo. Thaci said he expects of Serbia as soon as possible to recognize Kosovo as a state.

"That would be best for peace and stability in the region, and the best for our two countries. We are ready to establish bilateral diplomatic relations with Serbia. Pristina would be happy to have an embassy in Belgrade so that we could function as two normal states," Thaci said.
