NATO: Still no debate on the revision of the Kumanovo agreement

NATO has still not discussed, assessed or made decisions on the proposal of Serbian President Boris Tadic to revise the Kumanovo Agreement, NATO spokesman James Appathurai said in Brussels on Monday and announced for Tuesday a debate of NATO member-states' foreign ministers on the situation in Kosovo

Speaking at a news conference in Brussels, Appathurai said that NATO was aware of the stand of Tadic and Serbian Army Chief of Staff, General Zdravko Ponos, regarding the revision of the Kumanovo Agreement.

He said that nothing had changed about the issue for the time being.

"NATO has still not discussed, assessed nor made decisions about this issue", the spokesman said.

General Ponos said that he and NATO and KFOR officials had reached an agreement in Naples on Friday about expert talks on the revision of the Kumanovo Agreement.

Appathurai said that the NATO foreign ministers would discuss at a meeting in Brussels on Wednesday developments in Kosovo after last week's UN Security Council session.

"Developments in Kosovo deserve a ministerial discussion", he said.

The ministers will call for a speedy deployment of Eulex throughout Kosovo and will support the UN Security Council decision on Unmik reconfiguration.
