A panel of UN judges on Friday ordered Pristina police to free the three men for what they described as 'lack of substantial evidence' to continue holding the men.
"All three Germans have been released from detention because they are innocent. They can now go back to their country," the suspects' lawyer, Adem Ademi, said.
The three were released Friday evening and flew to Germany early Saturday.
Germany denied its secret agents had any involvement in the incident.
A spokesman for Chancellor Angela Merkel, Thomas Steg said that "The federal government was always certain of the innocence of the three Germans."
The German press has reported that Berlin was considering suspending its aid to Pristina after the case.
‘Nothing has been decided yet, but it is true that certain pressure has been made and that the country is considering support'. ‘Welt am Sonntag' reported.
The ‘Focus' magazine reported that the reason for the arrest of the three agents is confiscation of a notebook with information on contacts of the ‘ruling apparatus' and mafia.
‘The ‘Focus' claims that the BND believes that the three agents have collected ‘new information' on Hashim Thaci but does not specify the source.
