Serbian President Boris Tadic thanked on Monday in Belgrade his Czech counterpart Vaclav Klaus for his personal opposition to the independence of Kosovo and to the decision of the Czech government to recognize it

The two presidents concluded that the sole matter currently burdening the traditionally good Serb - Czech relations is the fact that the Czech government has recognized the independence of Kosovo.
Tadic set out that for Serbia the issue of the unilateral declaration of the independence of Kosovo is painful in the same way as the issue of the Sudeten crisis was painful to the Czechs on the eve of World War Two.
„We are hurt by the recognition of Kosovo, but President Klaus has said he understands and justifies this feeling of pain of the Serbian people", Tadic said.
Klaus had been warning for several years that Kosovo's secession might open a Pandora Box of separatism.
