The meeting, attended by representatives of the Democratic Party of Serbs and the Radical Party of Serbs in Macedonia , concluded that the recognition of the "anti-legal creation" in the territory of the internationally recognized state of Serbia is in direct contravention of international law.

"We are especially embittered that this was done expressly and immediately following the adoption of a draft resolution by the United Nations General Assembly asking the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its advisory opinion on the legality of the unilateral proclamation of independence and the usurping of a part of the territory of Serbia," the Council said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Serbian coach of Macedonia's most renowned football team Vardar Skopje, Ratko Dostanic, resigned from his post in protest over the Macedonian government decision.
