Macedonia has not recognized Kosovo, and any kind of Macedonian response might be seen as taking sides, be it in Belgrade or Pristina's favor, Macedonian Foreign Ministry sources say.

Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European Integration Ivica Bocevski reiterated that Macedonia would decide whether to recognize Serbia 's province in line with its own national and state interests.

"Macedonia is different from other countries in the region because our foreign policy has always been peaceful and rational, and we have never rushed into making any decisions, but have taken all decisions in the country's best interests. We will act accordingly in this instance," Bocevski said, adding that Macedonia would not be swayed by calls or pleas from either side.
