"I was under huge pressure to cooperate with the de facto regime in Kosovo, but I abide by Resolution 1244 and work only with UNMIK, and I will continue to do that until I am instructed otherwise by the Ministerial Committee, which still has not happened", Davis told a press conference of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (CEPA) in Strasbourg, the seat of this organistion.

"Sometimes it seems to me that I am the only one that is being consistent as far as the respect of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the member countries is concerned", Davis said while speaking about the crisis in Caucasus.

"Many point to the fact that the position of Russia and certain  European countries in respect to Kosovo has now turned into its opposite-  those who recognized Kosovo as an independent state now condemn Russia for having recognized South Ossetia while Russia condemns those that recognized Kosovo", the CE secretary general said.

"I did not issue a statement at the moment when Kosovo declared independence, because my position has always been that the issue should be resolved by the UN Security Council", Davis explained.
