Tadic will hold the speech on the first of a general debate at the UN headquarters in NewYork, which traditionally, every year, gathers the heads of state and government of the UN member countries, and which will last till October 1.

In his Tuesday address, as well as during his stay in New York, where he will have more than 30 top-level meetings, President Tadic will try to ensure support for Serbia's initiative.

The UN General Assembly should vote on Serbia's initiative after October 6, but the exact date has yet to be set.

It is certain, however, that this will not happen during a general debate to be held from September 23 to October 1.

The agenda of discussion is still provisional, and voting on issues will start on October 6, Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic has said, adding that they would urge for the debate on Serbia's initiative to start as soon as possible.
