Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic will address the 28 Committee member-states and reiterate once again the importance of the resolution.

He will request from the General Committee to include the draft resolution in the agenda of the 63rd UN General Assembly session.

The General Committee is made of representatives from 28 countries -  including the newly-elected president of the UN General Assembly Miguel D'Escoto Brockmann from Nicaragua, 21 vice-presidents and presidents of six main committees.

Members include representatives from countries which recognized Kosovo - such as the US, Great Britain, Holland, France, Hungary and Afghanistan, but they are in minority since the remaining 22 countries, which include China, Russia, Spain, Egypt, Portugal and Iraq, do not have the intention to do so.

If the committee puts the initiative on the agenda, it will be discussed during this month's General Assembly, at a still unspecified date.

Serbia's initiative is causing increasing concern in the Western political and diplomatic circles, without whose support Kosovo would not have proclaimed independence, Pristina's Albanian-language daily Zeri assessed on Wednesday.

Western diplomats in Pristina and Brussels told the daily that it was more likely than not that the initiative of official Belgrade would be accepted at the UN General Assembly.
