Chizhov: Kosovo not special case, West has striking double standards
The West has striking double standards, since in February, when the unilateral independence of Kosovo was proclaimed, no one said a word about the territorial integrity of Serbia , and yet they are now insisting on the territorial integrity of Georgia , Russian Ambassador to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said in Brussels on Tuesday

"The double standards of the west are indeed striking", he said.
"In February, when Kosovo proclaimed its unilateral independence, no one but Russia spoke about the need to respect the territorial integrity of Serbia" , Chizhov told a press conference.
"At that time, the EU did not mention in a single document the territorial integrity of Serbia , and yet they are now insisting on the territorial integrity of Georgia", he said.
"This is very clear evidence of double standards", the Russian ambassador said.
Commenting on a statement by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who said that Kosovo is a special case, Ambassador Chizhov said that there is not a single piece of evidence to prove that Kosovo is unique.
Quite the reverse, he said, "experts speak about there being 200 cases similar to that of Kosovo all over the world, and for them, Kosovo is a true precedent", he said.
The Russian ambassador underscored that "it is difficult to defend the stand that what is permitted to Kosovo Albanians is not permitted to anyone else in the world."
