Gay takes over Kfor command

Italian General Giuseppe Emilio Gay took over from French General Xavier Bout de Marnhac command of the NATO peacekeeping force KFOR

Gay has served earlier in Kosovo. He was commander of KFOR "Multinational Brigade West" in Kosovo before going to serve in the international military force in Afghanistan.

The ceremony of the transfer of authority was attended by Naples-based Commander of the United States Naval Forces Europe Admiral Mark Fitzgerald, UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier, as well as key Pristina offocials.

KFOR is currently made of 16,000 troops.
