Teams found five cluster bombs left over from the 1999 NATO air strikes at depth ranging from five to 30 centimeters.

The Russian government in early July approved six million dollars for the demining of the Nis airport. A Russian state agency is engaged on the sweeping of the field while the Serbian Demining Center is in charge of supervising the work.

NATO cluster bombs killed or maimed hundreds of civilians in attacks against Serbian localities in 1999, both in Kosovo and in central Serbia.
