Serbia will open the official procedure of the UN General Assembly with the official presenting of the draft resolution. The regular session will be held in mid-September.

Ahead of his departure for New York, Jeremic said Serbia's immediate objective at the UN is that the International Court of Justice should provide its stand on the legality of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo and to stop the recognition of this act, and the long-term objective is that the two involved sides should go back to the negotiating table.

"We believe that our arguments in the area of international law are superior and we hope that we will succeed in moving the resolving of this problem into that area with the adoption of this resolution" at the United Nations, Jeremic said.
