Ivanovic: South Ossetian conflict directly inspired by Kosovo
The war destruction and the humanitarian catastrophe in Georgia’s separatist region of South Ossetia is directly inspired by the recognition of the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo, Serbia’s State Secretary for the province Oliver Ivanovic said.

"Without the Kosovo precedent there would have not been a war in South Ossetia", Ivanovic said.
"The policy of double standards will once again flare up. Countries which have recognized Kosovo are now searching for the argument that Kosovo was a ‘unique case', which is total nonsense. When you step into breaking international law and non-respect of sovereignty of states, as it was done in the case of Kosovo, then it is possible to use this recipe in all other situations", Ivanovic said.
The official said that the "subjectivity of the international factor in assessing the situation, the inconsistency in the respect of international law and the double standards were the starting basis for Kosovo's independence".
