India to back up Serbia’s request for the ICJ opinion on Kosovo’s secession

Indian Ambassador to Serbia Ajay Swarup said on Thursday that India would support Serbia at the UN General Assembly in its request for an advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on whether Kosovo's attempt at secession is in accordance with international law.

"India abides by international law principles and did not recognize Kosovo's secession," said Swarup.

India will remain consistent to its principles in the future and at the UN General Assembly session.
