Serbia’s FM to call on Non-Alligned countries to reject Kosovo’s secession
Serbia’s Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic will call on the ministers of the Non-Alligned Movement, meeting in Teheran, to reject Kosovo’s unilateral secession.

After addressing the representatives of themember-states, Jeremić will meet separately with the delegation heads of Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Algeria, Brunei, Kenya, Cuba, Iran, Pakistan, Bhutan, Laos, Bangladesh, Singapore, Venezuela, Panama, Chile, Colombia, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, and Bolivia.
Jeremić will attempt to secure the support of these countries for the United Nations General Assembly in September, when Serbia plans to launch an initiative demanding a International Court of Justice opinion on the legality of the Kosovo Albanians' unilateral declaration of independence.
Belgrade will ask whether the secession proclamation is in keeping with valid international law: the United Nations Charter, the Helsinki Final Act, and UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
Meanwhile, the meeting in Teheran opens today and the ministers will discuss preparations for a summit to be held in the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh next year.
The Non-Aligned Movement was founded more than 50 years ago and it now rallies 118 countries. Belgrade was one of its founders and most prominent leaders.
