Council of Europe for a UN-backed compromise solution
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis said on Tuesday in Strasbourg that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe believes the future status of Kosovo must be resolved in the UN.

"This will be a decision made by the UN because that institution resolves border issues and we will respect that decision," Davis told reporters.
He reiterated that the Council of Europe advocated a compromise solution that would satisfy both sides in the negotiations.
"Kosovo is a part of Europe, and European standards must be implemented everywhere in Europe, including Kosovo," Davis said.
