Bush to meet Pristina leaders, Putin sends Belgrade support on Kosovo

U.S. President George W. Bush will meet with Kosovo's President Fatmir Sejdiu and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci on July 21, the White House has announced.

"The visit will provide an opportunity for the president to discuss his strong support for the efforts of the Kosovo government to build a democratic, prosperous, multiethnic state with institutions that serve all of Kosovo's citizens," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has congratulated Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic on his election to office.

Putin reiterated that Russia's support for Serbia's principled stand on Kosovo remained unchanged.

"Russia intends to continue coordinating endeavors for upholding international law, and hopes to pursue constructive cooperation with the Serbian government," Putin said.
