So far, only five out of 57 members of the OIC have recognized Kosovo's move, which has prompted Washington to urge Turkey to lobby for wider recognition.

Ankara's efforts in Dakar have so far been met with stiff resistance by Indonesia, Egypt and Azerbaijan, which are leading a bloc of countries opposed to secession.

A Kosovo Albanian delegation has also been sent to Dakar to help U.S.-Turkish lobbying efforts.

Albania, Turkey, Malaysia, Afghanistan and Senegal are the five OIC countries which have so far recognized Kosovo.

Kosovo will also be discussed on the margins of the EU summit in Brussels, held on Thursday and Friday.

EU Ministers of foreign affairs are to discuss the problems facing the Eulex mission during their dinner on Thursday evening.
