Cerovic was found by the locals in a three meters deep canal which stretches through the village a few kilometers from Pec, Radio Gorazdevac reported.

Dzevat Ibra, regional spokesperson of the Kosovo police, told Tanjug that the exact cause of death is still unknown.

There were traces of blood at the place where Cerovic was found, and the Serb arrived in Metohija on Tuesday and a day later he disappeared without a trace, Radio Gorazdevac said.

His son Petar stated for the radio that he does not know if his father was killed or died when he fell into the canal, adding that he intended to return to Belo Polje for good and that he did not have good relations with his Albanian neighbors.

The autopsy will be carried out in Pristina.

Today there are a dozen Serb families out of a total of 200 households in Belo Polje near Pec as many as before the 1999 conflict in the province.
