Kostunica: DSS to back referendum on Kosovo
Leader of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Vojislav Kostunica stated on Saturday that the party would back the initiative of Kosovo Serbs to stage a referendum at which citizens could say whether they are in favour of the 'destruction' of Serbia's government institutions in Kosovo and 'leaving the Serbs at the mercy and under the power of Albanian separatists'.

"The EU set an ultimatum to Serbia according to which the agreement has to be signed and implemented by St. Vitus Day (June 28) so that the EU would grant Serbia the date of beginning of EU accession talks. Serbia has completed the first step, the signing of the agreement, and the EU is now asking for its implementation. This will not happen," Kostunica said at the 11th DSS youth session.
The DSS leader underscored that neither the Republic of Serbia nor its Constitution and laws are mentioned in any of the 15 points of the Brussels agreement.
"Such an agreement is anticonstitutional and it is aimed directly against Serbia's national interests and the interests of the people of Serbia," Kostunica said.
