Top officials to specify minimum of competencies

Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kosovo Milovan Drecun said on Monday that Serbia's top officials will in the coming days specify the minimum of competencies of a community of Serb municipalities for an agreement with Pristina.

"Strong diplomatic activities are ongoing, with the facilitator of the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina requesting that Serbia should specify the minimum of demands, particularly referring to the competencies of a community of Serb municipalities," Drecun said.

According to the statement published in the Monday issue of Novi Sad-based daily Dnevnik, Drecun said that once the demands are clearly defined in writing, they will be presented to Pristina's negotiating team.

Belgrade hopes that Brussels and Washington would exert additional pressure on Pristina so that it would be ready for a
compromise, after the minimum of powers for this community of Serb municipalities in Kosovo is determined in the next several days.
"Shuttle diplomacy is clearing the ground for continuation of the dialogue," Drecun said, underlining that the key condition for that is to "bring the positions of Belgrade and Pristina closer, i.e. to make Pristina voice readiness for a compromise."
