In this sense, cooperation between the Serbian parliament and the U.S. Congress will increase through many modes of cooperation, the chair of the Serbian parliament Friendship Group Zoran Radovanovic told reporters after the closing of the meeting.

Radovanovic recalled that the U.S. sent almost USD 1 billion worth of donations to Serbia since 2000 and that Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic would visit the U.S. in May with an intention of presenting the possibilities for investments in Serbia to potential investors.

There are certain political differences but this will not prevent us from cooperating, Radovanovic said.

Kirby expressed the satisfaction with the cooperation with the Serbian parliament and political parties in the construction of institutions.

The U.S. ambassador said that parliamentary cooperation is exceptionally important and underlined that one group of Serbian MPs is currently visiting the U.S. within the Open World Programme and during their stay in the U.S., they will be informed about the functioning of democracy in the U.S.

We are glad that we are able to help in the construction of institutions which constitute the aim of all of us, Kirby said.

Addressing the MPs in the House of the Serbian National Assembly, Kirby expressed regret over the tragedy which occurred in Velika Ivanca near Mladenovac on Tuesday.
