Deniau: Belgrade's proposals basis for progress

The dialogue has progressed well and has enabled, among other things, living conditions in Kosovo to improve. The proposals brought forward by the Serbian government concerning the issue of northern Kosovo, which are based on the decentralization principle, are a useful foundation for progress, Deniau said in a written statement for Tanjug.

The French ambassador stressed that a durable solution must encompass appropriate guarantees for the Serb minority in Kosovo, and expressed belief an agreement is not beyond reach, provided all negotiators put in the necessary effort.

We support Serbia's wish to continue the talks, because there is a historic chance to arrive at a solution, said Deniau.
