One more round of talks possible

The EU is planning to organize another round of the Belgrade-Pristina talks next week, but only if the two sides' positions get converged enough by informal diplomacy so as to make the agreement certain, the Belgrade-based press reads.

Serbia's senior officials have already received signals from centers of power that Brussels is ready to continue the dialogue despite the Serbian government's decision not to accept the offer on north Kosovo, reads the Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti.

The daily's sources said that EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton has already sent messages to four EU capitals - Berlin, Paris, London and Rome in order to get precise political guidelines for further steps regarding Belgrade and Pristina.

She is waiting for instructions whether to arrange another round of the talks by April 16 when she is due to present a report on progress in the dialogue.

It is also possible that she will organize a mini-tour and a series of meetings with politicians in Belgrade and Pristina after the release of the report of the European Commission on April 16.

According to the daily, the visits would take place between April 16 and April 22 when Ashton is due to present her report to the EU foreign ministers.

The Serbian government decided on Monday to seek an urgent resumption of the EU-mediated dialogue with Pristina.
Prime Minister Ivica Dacic said that the government cannot accept the principles verbally presented to its negotiating team, because they do not guarantee security, survival and human rights protection to Serbs in Kosovo.
