EC expects concrete proposals from Serbia

Following the Serbian government's decision not to accept the agreement with Pristina and call for the continuation of the dialogue, Brussels is expecting more concrete proposals from Belgrade regarding the process of normalization of relations with Kosovo, an European official told reporters on Monday evening under condition of anonymity.

We are now waiting for an explanation which parts of the agreement are acceptable for the Serbian authorities, said the official, who was well-informed about the dialogue to date.

The official did not want to confirm or deny whether the continuation of the dialogue is possible, but pointed out that the time for reaching the agreement is running out given that the ministers of the EU member states have been waiting for two weeks the report of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton on the dialogue.

Ashton said late on Monday that she regrets the decision of the Serbian government to reject EU-brokered proposals for an agreement with Pristina and called on them to make a last effort to reach an agreement, for the benefit of their people.
